On September 25, Indian shooters Suruchi Singh and Kamaljeet won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 2026 Asian Games. They secured India’s second gold medal at the Games with an Asian record score of 484.6 points.
The Indian pair finished 6.6 points ahead of South Korea; South Korea won the silver medal with a score of 478.0 points, Iran secured the bronze medal with 415.8 points, while Indonesia finished fourth with 349.4 points.
Suruchi and Kamaljeet took the lead with 103 points in the opening series and maintained it through the first stage, bringing their total to 303.5 points after three series. They extended their lead in the second stage, scoring 61.2 points to reach 364.7, and subsequently raised their score to 424.9 in the next series, establishing an 8.4-point lead over South Korea.
South Korea mounted a challenge late on, but Suruchi and Kamaljeet maintained their lead and won the gold medal with a score of 484.6 points. Their winning score also broke the previous Asian record of 481.3 points, set at the Asian Shooting Championships held in New Delhi in 2026.
After the women’s cricket team won gold by defeating Sri Lanka in the final, India secured its second gold medal at these Games. Meanwhile, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Rudrankksh Patil, and Neeraj Kumar won the silver medal in the men’s 50m rifle 3-position team event.
In table tennis, Diya Chitale and Manush Shah, and in squash, Joshna Chinappa and Velavan Senthilkumar, advanced to the next round of the mixed doubles. In swimming, Sajan Prakash reached the 200m butterfly final, while Rishabh Das and Utkarsh Patil advanced to the next round of the 200m backstroke. In badminton, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto also made it to the next round of the mixed doubles.
