The Ministry of Defence has signed a contract worth ₹586 crore with Accurate Industrial Controls Private Limited for the procurement of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for T-72 and T-90 tanks. The contract was signed in New Delhi on September 21, 2026, in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
APUs serve as an alternative power source for the tanks’ fire control systems, firing circuits, gun stabilization systems, and other auxiliary systems.
The deployment of these indigenously developed APUs will help further strengthen the operational readiness, reliability, and sustainability of the Indian Army’s mechanized formations.
This procurement marks a significant step towards the indigenization of critical subsystems associated with armored platforms. It also demonstrates the capability to advance technology developed within the country through industry-led R&D (Make-II)—to the stages of production and military deployment.
This initiative aligns with the government’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat @2047’ and marks a significant milestone towards fostering self-reliance in the defence sector.
Furthermore, this initiative will provide a boost to the domestic defense industry and help further strengthen India’s robust, self-reliant, and globally competitive defense manufacturing capabilities.
