New Forest Division Proposed to Strengthen Wildlife Conservation in Jaipur Region

Jaipur: The Rajasthan Forest Department has proposed the creation of a new forest division covering Jhalana Leopard Reserve, Nahargarh Biological Park, and Hathi Gaon. The move aims to strengthen wildlife conservation, improve forest management, and curb illegal activities such as poaching and encroachment.

Focused Wildlife and Forest Management

The new division will be led by a senior IFS officer and focus on:

Protection and monitoring of wildlife habitats
Management of eco-sensitive zones and tourist areas
Streamlined enforcement against illegal logging and poaching
Key Areas Under the Division
Jhalana Leopard Reserve – a vital urban wildlife habitat near Jaipur
Nahargarh Wildlife Sanctuary and Biological Park – rich in flora and fauna
Hathi Gaon forests – critical for wildlife corridors and habitat connectivity
Benefits of the New Division

Officials say the restructuring will:

Enhance forest and wildlife monitoring
Strengthen enforcement against illegal activities
Improve rescue, rehabilitation, and eco-tourism management
