Half of the World’s Real-Time Digital Transactions Occur in India, PM Modi Highlights

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Kautilya Economic Conclave, presenting an optimistic overview of India’s economic achievements and its position on the global stage. He proudly declared that India is currently the fastest-growing major economy in the world and has now become the fifth-largest economy based on GDP.

“Today, India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. We are the fifth largest economy in terms of GDP,” Modi stated, highlighting the nation’s impressive economic trajectory. He noted that India leads the world in fintech adoption, underscoring the rapid digital transformation taking place across various sectors.

The Prime Minister further elaborated on India’s digital prowess, proclaiming, “We are number one in smartphone data consumption and the second largest in the world in terms of internet users.” He emphasized that nearly half of the world’s real-time digital transactions are occurring in India, a testament to the country’s advanced digital infrastructure and innovative financial solutions.

Additionally, Modi highlighted India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem, which is now the third-largest in the world. “Our startups are driving innovation and creating employment opportunities, making significant contributions to the economy,” he remarked.

In terms of sustainability, Modi pointed out that India ranks fourth globally in renewable energy capacity, reinforcing the government’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development. “We are making strides towards a greener future while ensuring economic growth,” he stated.
