This will create new opportunities for our youth. It also demonstrates the growing global interest in investing in India.”
In his post, Jassy wrote, “Had a very good meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding Amazon’s plans for India. We have been serving customers, sellers, developers, startups, and industries in India for over a decade, and our journey has just begun.”
He further added, “I discussed our upcoming plans with him. I shared that Amazon is investing 48 billion US dollars in India over the next five years, with more than 21 billion US dollars of that investment dedicated to AI and cloud infrastructure.”
According to Jassy, ”By 2030, we plan to create 3.8 million jobs, enable 80 billion US dollars in e-commerce exports, and bring the benefits of AI to 15 million small businesses and 4 million government school students. I am excited about the future. There is still so much more we can build in India.”
According to information provided on Amazon’s official website, with this new investment, Amazon’s total planned investment to expand AI and cloud infrastructure in India between 2026 and 2030 will exceed 21 billion US dollars. The company states that this will be one of the largest global investments in India’s AI and cloud sectors.
