PM Modi Highlights Worldwide Acceptance of Yoga as a Path to Positive Living

Yoga Day was celebrated across the globe yesterday. In every part of the globe, people gathered in large numbers and performed Yoga to give the message of fitness. After the huge success of Yoga Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that yoga is inspiring people to lead positive lives filled with self-confidence.

On Monday, Prime Minister Modi wrote on the social media platform ‘X’: “The tremendous success of International Yoga Day is proof that yoga is not only making millions of people worldwide physically healthy but is also inspiring them to lead positive lives with self-confidence.”

On this occasion, PM Modi also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam (wise saying): “Chittaprashamanopayo yoga ityabhidhiyate; Pranaspandanirodho va dvedha yogasya dharana.” This Subhashitam states: “The method to completely calm the mind is known as ‘Yoga’. Two approaches to achieving this goal are described: calming the mind and controlling the rhythm of the breath.”

It is noteworthy that the 12th International Yoga Day was celebrated on Sunday. Prime Minister Modi led the national Yoga Day event from Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. He participated in a ‘Common Yoga Protocol’ session alongside thousands of yoga practitioners. Extending his best wishes to people across the globe on International Yoga Day, PM Modi noted that June 21st marks the longest day of the year in many parts of the world and has also emerged as one of humanity’s greatest collective celebrations through yoga.

The Prime Minister remarked that inspiring images of yoga are being seen from various parts of the world. He said, “From the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean, and from Bengal and the Northeast to the western region of Saurashtra, the entire nation appears energized by the spirit of yoga. The country and the world seem united through a shared resolve for health and harmony, reflecting the unifying power of yoga.”

Prime Minister Modi also commended the efforts of the people of Kolkata under the ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ (Welcome through Cleanliness) initiative. He said that the dedication, hard work, and civic responsibility demonstrated by citizens in maintaining cleanliness have become an inspiration for people across the country.
