Prime Minister Modi to Visit Wayanad on August 10 for Ground-Level Assessment of Landslide Damage

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the landslide-stricken Wayanad district in Kerala on Saturday, August 10, 2024, to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the ongoing disaster relief efforts. The visit is aimed at providing direct support to affected communities and evaluating the effectiveness of the response measures.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will tour several key areas, including a relief camp, a local hospital, and the Bailey bridge constructed by the Indian Army. The Bailey bridge has been crucial for restoring connectivity and facilitating the distribution of relief supplies in the disaster zone.

Additionally, Modi will perform an aerial survey of the affected regions to gain a broader perspective on the scale of the damage and the progress of recovery efforts. This aerial view will be instrumental in understanding the full impact of the landslides and guiding further response strategies.

The Prime Minister will arrive at Kannur airport via a special flight and will then travel to Wayanad by Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter. His visit underscores the central government’s dedication to managing the crisis effectively and supporting the recovery process.

The Prime Minister’s engagement in Wayanad is expected to offer significant encouragement to both the local residents and the relief workers. It also highlights the government’s commitment to providing timely assistance and ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to aid in the region’s recovery.
