Jaipur: Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, will launch Bharat-Vistaar, an AI-powered digital platform for farmers, in Jaipur today. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s agricultural ecosystem by providing real-time, technology-driven support to farmers across the country.
What is Bharat-Vistaar?
Bharat-Vistaar is designed as a single-window digital solution for farmers, offering critical agricultural information through advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI). The platform will provide:
Weather updates
Market prices (mandi rates)
Pest and disease management guidance
Soil health insights
Crop advisories
Information on government schemes
Farmers will be able to access services via phone calls and chatbots, while a dedicated mobile application is expected to be introduced in the next phase.
Multilingual Rollout Across States
In its first phase, the AI-based agriculture platform will be available in Hindi and English. It is expected to reach millions of farmers across key agricultural states, including Maharashtra, Bihar, and Gujarat.
The initiative aligns with the Centre’s broader push for AI in agriculture, digital inclusion, and farmer empowerment.
National Participation and Institutional Support
The launch event will witness participation from agriculture ministers of various states and farmers connecting online nationwide. Representatives from leading agricultural institutions, including the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, agricultural universities, and other research bodies, will also join the event.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Bhagirath Choudhary, and senior officials from the Department of Agriculture will be present at the programme.
AI Roadmap for Agriculture and Hackathon Announcements
On the occasion, Mr. Chouhan and Chief Minister Sharma will also unveil the “AI Roadmap for Agriculture.” The government is expected to announce initiatives related to an AI Hackathon and a dedicated Agriculture Fund, aimed at promoting innovation and technological adoption in the farm sector.
The launch of Bharat-Vistaar marks a significant step towards integrating artificial intelligence into Indian agriculture, enhancing productivity, transparency, and farmer access to reliable information.
