The Government of Rajasthan has approved a proposal to upgrade the Sikar–Piprali road into a four-lane highway, bringing major relief to residents of Sikar.

The long-pending demand for widening the Sikar–Piprali route has now moved forward after the state government granted approval on Wednesday. Authorities are expected to issue a tender soon for the construction work.

The four-lane expansion is expected to improve traffic flow, reduce road accidents and support the growth of Sikar’s education hub.

Budget Savings Enabled Project Approval

The project gained approval following savings from another infrastructure project. The state government had earlier sanctioned ₹70.42 crore to widen the Kotputli–Kuchaman Mega Highway by 10 metres.

However, the tender for the project was finalised at ₹57.23 crore, resulting in savings of nearly ₹13 crore.

Based on this saving, RSRDC Assistant Engineer Sumit Garhwal proposed using the funds to upgrade the Sikar–Piprali road into a four-lane route. Since the proposal did not place an additional financial burden on the state government, it was approved.

Under the plan, around 4.5 kilometres of highway between Sikar and Piprali will be developed as a four-lane road using the ₹13 crore budget, while the remaining 3.5 kilometres will be completed by the earlier contractor under pending works.

Four-Lane Road to Improve Safety

Currently, the Sikar–Piprali road is narrow and lacks a central divider, leading to frequent road accidents.

Once the four-lane highway is completed, separate lanes for two-wheelers and improved traffic management will help reduce accidents and make travel safer and smoother for commuters.

Boost for Sikar’s Education Hub

The Piprali Road area in Sikar has emerged as a major education hub, with a growing number of coaching institutes and student hostels.

With improved road infrastructure, new coaching centres and hostels are expected to open beyond Piprali Circle, expanding the education ecosystem of the city.

The expansion could also strengthen the local economy, as more students and businesses move to the area.

Residential Development Expected to Grow

Due to poor road connectivity, residential development along the Piprali road corridor had remained limited in recent years.

The construction of the four-lane road is expected to accelerate the development of new housing colonies and residential areas along the route, improving connectivity and urban expansion in Sikar.

Officials believe the project will not only ease traffic congestion and enhance safety, but also support economic, educational and residential growth in the region.
