Om Birla Lays Foundation for ₹18 Crore Ropeway at Maa Bijasan Temple in Indergarh, Bundi

Bundi: Devotees visiting the revered Maa Bijasan Temple in Indergarh will soon be spared the climb of over 750 steps, as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla laid the foundation stone for an ₹18 crore ropeway project on Monday.

Located in Indergarh (Bundi district), the ancient and revered Shaktipeeth is a major spiritual center of Rajasthan’s Hadoti region. Perched atop a high hill in the Aravalli range, the temple is known for its natural beauty and deep religious significance.

Ropeway to Make Darshan Easier for Devotees

Currently, devotees must undertake a steep climb of nearly 750–1000 steps to reach the hilltop temple, which is situated inside a natural cave. With the construction of the ropeway, pilgrims—especially elderly people, women, and differently-abled devotees—will be able to reach the shrine within minutes.

Om Birla stated that the ropeway facility will significantly increase footfall at the temple, generating new employment opportunities for local traders, hotel owners, and tourist guides.

Eco-Friendly Development Near Tiger Reserve

As the temple is located near the Ramgarh Vishdhari Tiger Reserve, special care is being taken to ensure environmental protection.

  • The ropeway project is designed to minimize impact on wildlife and forest resources.
  • The initiative aims to strike a balance between religious tourism and ecological conservation.

Birla expressed confidence that Indergarh will soon emerge as a major destination on Rajasthan’s religious tourism map.

Temple’s Location and Religious Importance

The Maa Bijasan Temple is located in Indergarh tehsil of Bundi district, about 160 km from Jaipur and 75 km from Kota. The temple houses a self-manifested idol of the goddess inside a natural cave. From the temple premises, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the Aravalli hills.

Navratri Fair Attracts Lakhs of Devotees

The temple witnesses massive gatherings during both Chaitra and Sharadiya Navratri. Lakhs of devotees from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and other states visit during the annual fair. Special religious ceremonies such as Mangal Aarti, Bhog Aarti, and Sandhya Aarti are organized during the festival.

The ropeway project is expected to enhance accessibility, boost tourism, and strengthen the local economy while preserving the spiritual and environmental heritage of the region.
